There’s plenty of spaces for actors to develop their craft; not as many for solo performers. If you’re an emerging or established solo performer, then get your bad self to THE EAST: A Solo Performance Laboratory.
Next lab: Sat. 3/4 from 4:00 – 6:00pm
4799 Shattuck @ 48 St., Oakland, 2nd fl. (next to the kitchen).
THE EAST will focus on the creation of new solo work and/or development of works in progress through a supportive group process, culminating in a live performance the evening of April 29, 2017 at 518 Valencia in the Mission, San Francisco.
Each lab involves:
– Physical and/or voice warm up
– Workshopping of 4-5 solo pieces (each piece up to 15 min. in length), either a stand alone piece or part of a longer work
What to bring:
Writing materials, light/loose clothing
* this is geared towards solo performers with some amount of performance experience. The EAST is limited to seven spaces.
Contact speechalive[at]live.com for more info. Labs are free thanks to the generosity of the Bay Area Public Schools and The Omni.
